terrific term 4 PBL

my magnificent market day !!!

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link cubes and my group did pretty well it was really challenging but I like a bit of a challenge
Then; make a table that was able to balance M and Ms for the team. I don’t know how it went because I wasn't there but my team said that it went great

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was selling out in the first minute or so but having such a popular product that everyone loved and it was so much fun working with my group 
here is a sneak peek of our product we sold

Next time I would change the number of how much we had of our product because  if I knew how many people wanted slime then we wouldn't have sold out so fast and next time maybe we could have a bit more of a challenge
even tho I liked being a smurf for a few days maybe next time I could be hulk

Hi and welcome back to my blog today I will be sharing my P.B.L (AKA project based learning) 

For P . B . L in term 4 we have been steam witch stands for science technology engineering art and math our driving question is how can we use a steam approach to make a marketable product in my group I have a girl called Eilish a boy called Lincoln and and another girl called Jinhee for our product we are doing slime.

 I've really in joyed making the slime we even made a promo it was so much fun working with my group.

next step:

I think the thing that we need to do next is make the advertising posters witch we are doing now and I can't wait to get back to making the slime .

This term our Project Based Learning (P B L) has been about cultural stories and our driving  question was;

 What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?

 First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas.  Culture is……

 Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. 

 I wrote a post about my family and things we like to do.

 In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world then we concentrated 

 on Maori legends. I read…. I have written my own legend called/I retold the legend of... in my own words.




 We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains.
Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork,
some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with
dance and drama.

 Reflection: 


 For our production I contributed by...making up my own part in the play I played the wizard with
a friend called Lucas me and him had lots of fun making up our part 


 I think the show might impact on others by… family, friends and teachers feel like they know more
about the Maori culture


 What I learned about working with others was … you can get things done faster in a group more
than being individual

My learning

This year for learning we have been doing so many fun and exciting things but for now I will be sharing about my P.B.L

so lately in the hub we have recently just finished doing our P.B.L.[ or in other words project based learning] we did physical activity,nutrition,mindfulness and  brain science for physical activity we focused on our mussels and exercise we also looked into our pulses and felt our heart beats  we also after that we searched up an athlete and found there sport and what mussels they use then at the end we added there quality's they have as an athlete and I did and I think  the quality that my athlete has are are Positive has grit and Perseverance Confident and  believes in himself and the mussels were Hamstring,Quadriceps,gastrocnemius,Trapezius,Deltoid and Biceps
 we also did some stretches and put what mussels it stretches when we finished  my class did mindfulness for mindfulness I wasn't there because I was on holiday in Auckland for the Bruno mars  concert  after that when I got back we did nutrition and for nutrition we did a cool drawing and it looked like this all we did to make our own one of these was go on to a website then after that we type in the words that you want to go onto your picture and if you want you can change the font and colour and you can find a shape or for  your picture then you download it and upload it.After that we searched the web for a drink bottle put 6 reasons why we should drink water and why water is good for us and I put 1.to stay hydrated 2.lets us have energy 3.helps our food to grow 4.helps us when we have a head aches 5.keeps us clean 6.water help us next my class moved on to brain science for brain science the first thing we did was take a test and that test helped us find our multiple intelligence and my multiple intelligence or dominant smart my dominant smart was body smart and music smart and that doesn't surprise me much because I do a few sport that i absolutely love and I also play two instruments guitar and ukulele we also looked at a brain slide and one of the things we did was look at a picture and memorise t but we did't know we had to remember it so at the end when the teacher asked us we did get a lot but not as much as there was or that we could of got because we did not memorise it although.We got most of it we got and the score was  around 70/100 and so over all it was petty good in my opinion so over all we got a good score and after that we named the different parts of the brain like Cerebellum-controls movements Cerebrum-special areas witch receives messages Brain stem-keeping things working Nerves send messages and well that is it  from me
